Talk
You cannot motivate other people. Only they can do that. But you can stop demotivating them, and that is rarely what the leadership books tell you. This talk is about why the same leadership style makes one employee flourish and sends another one off to update their CV.
Most managers lead the way they would like to be led themselves. It is human, and it works fine on the employees who resemble the manager. For everyone else it is a source of frustration, often on both sides of the desk.
The talk shows how the nine types are motivated differently. Some want clear boundaries, others want freedom. Some want recognition for the result, others for the effort, and some would simply prefer to be left alone to get on with it. Praise that works on one person can feel like control to another. Once the manager can see the difference, leadership becomes less a style and more a craft.
We also look at the manager's own blind spots: what happens to you as a leader when the pressure rises, and how that affects the team. The talk is concrete and draws on more than 20 years of work with managers in both private and public organisations.

Management teams, leadership seminars, leadership development programmes and HR networks. Also for team leaders and new managers.
Choose the format that suits your event. Every topic can be delivered in every format.
| Format | Duration | Typically for | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Keynote | 45 to 60 minutes | Kick-off, conference, staff day | Energy and lightbulb moments for a big room at once |
| Talk with dialogue | 1.5 to 2 hours | Management team, department, network | Room for questions and your own examples |
| Workshop | 3 hours | Team, department, sales or service team | Participants work with their own type and how they work together |
| Half-day session | 3.5 to 4 hours | Team or management team that wants to go deeper | Workshop plus concrete agreements on what you do afterwards |
Every talk is built around your own examples. If you are facing a very particular situation, we tailor the content. If you want to keep working on it afterwards, the leadership training is the natural next step.
Tell us about your event, the number of participants and the date, and Balder will come back to you with a proposal.
